Because of that continued dedication of Matt's friends and family, contributions to the Matthew W. Houlihan Foundation, Inc. have grown a great deal in the last few years. The continued support of these generous donors has helped the Foundation to make a substantial impact in the form of scholarship dollars at Tabor Academy and Hamilton College, Matt's alma maters. The recipients of these awards share many of the outstanding qualities that enabled Matt to influence countless people's lives in many different ways, such as exceptional character, a positive attitude, exemplary citizenship, and strong academics. Since the Foundation's inception in 2001, we have raised over $500,000 through various endeavors, and have awarded almost $300,000 in scholarship support.
In the past couple of years, in response to the Board's desire to do something in the area of heart health, the Foundation has been able to expand its impact to the community at large by purchasing three defibrillators for the beaches in Matt's hometown of Falmouth, Massachusetts.
